About the event
In this session, participants will learn about metacognition and how to use it to increase the rigor of learning and create a greater assessment partnership with students. When learners know how to reflect on what they know and can do, they can better advocate for help and transfer their learning meaningfully. This session will explore and provide opportunities to challenge grading beliefs and offer ways to teach students of all ages how to think about their learning meaningfully. This will be an interactive session with many examples to show how reflection and self-assessment truly shift how students feel about learning when used well.
Learning Objectives:
Learn what metacognition is and how it works with self-assessment
Explore the power of reflection to make learning visible for students
Reflect on their own practice and engage in activities that they can use in their own classrooms
