In part 6 of this opening of school series, Isaac Wells and I discuss the need for equity in how we assess all students, looking beyond what curriculum maps suggest to what each student needs to be successful.
As educators, we have a duty to ensure we know our students and that we teach to their strengths, all the while uplifting and developing their challenges.
Stay tuned in the coming months to learn more about my upcoming book with ASCD, Assessing with Respect: Everyday Practices That Meet Students’ Social and Emotional Needs.
As we start to wrap up the series, which will end on October 9th when we discuss portfolios, we will be looking to move to a different format to meet the needs of teachers who are now back in school and potentially struggling with their circumstances.
What format would work best for you? Once a month on a weekend? I'd love to hear your feedback.
